On receiving the Kansas Monk award recently, Murray said … “I do feel a great debt of gratitude for the monks and the sisters of the Abbey and the Monastery and to the faculty … as I reflect on things, it is truly a gift of the Benedictine tradition … I spent the first 40 years of my life after leaving Benedictine climbing mountains, only to find that there were more mountains on the other side. I thought I was in control. What this award points out to me is that God is in control and I hope that for the next 40 years of my life, I can live and know that God is in control. And when I leave this planet, know that everything I do, as with the monks and the sisters, is to glorify God.”
